The new production of ‘Blood Brothers’ for Toho Company which opened at Theatre Creation, Tokyo on August 8th 2009 offers a new set, staging, costumes, musical arrangements and choreography. All different both from the West End production and from previous productions in Japan.
The cast and band are all newcomers to the production.
There are two different sets of brothers - Takeda Shinji (Mickey) and Okada Kohki (Eddie) who played the parts during August and Fujioka Masaaki (Mickey) and Tashiro Mario (Eddie) who took over in September.
It also offers two Mrs. Johnstones (Kim Ji Hyun and T’sukas) who play in repertoire.
The production is being very well received with enthusiastic standing ovations from the audience. |
